Statement of Faith

Everything we do at Eremos flows from our faith in Jesus Christ and our confidence in the truth of Scripture. Our mission, teaching, and guided experiences are shaped by these biblical convictions. While this statement is not intended to answer every theological question, it expresses the foundational beliefs that guide our ministry.

EREMOS : STATEMENT OF FAITH

Our Confession

At the heart of Eremos is the conviction that God desires to be known, and that He is actively at work drawing people toward Himself.

We believe that God is not distant or silent. He initiates relationship with humanity, and He continues to reveal Himself through creation, Scripture, the Holy Spirit, and ultimately through Jesus Christ.

We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God. It is the foundation by which we test all teaching, practice, and spiritual experience within Eremos.

We believe Jesus Christ is the center of all things. He is fully God and fully man, crucified for sin, raised from the dead, and the only way by which humanity is reconciled to God. All formation, transformation, and spiritual life flows from Him.

We believe the Holy Spirit is present and active in the world today. He convicts, guides, comforts, and transforms those who belong to Christ. Spiritual growth is not produced by human effort alone, but by the ongoing work of God within us.

We believe every person is created in the image of God and possesses inherent dignity and worth. Every person is invited into relationship with God and into a life of transformation through Jesus Christ.

We believe spiritual formation is lifelong. No person arrives at completion in this life. We are continually being shaped into the likeness of Christ.

We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

We believe the Church is the body of Christ in the world, called to worship God, grow in faith, and live out the love of Christ in community and mission.

EREMOS : PHILOSOPHY OF MINISTRY

How These Beliefs Take Shape in the Wilderness

Eremos exists because we believe that God uses attention, presence, and creation to awaken people to what is already true in Him.

We believe the wilderness does not replace God, add to God, or make God more accessible. Rather, it removes distraction and invites awareness. In the quiet of creation, people often become more attentive to the voice and presence of God who has been present all along.

We believe silence is not emptiness, but a space where awareness can deepen. In silence, people often become more aware of their thoughts, their internal posture, and their dependence on God.

We believe solitude is not isolation, but intentional space away from competing voices. It is not an escape from responsibility, but an opportunity to become more present to God and to one’s own life with honesty.

We believe the role of the guide is not to create transformation, but to steward attention. The guide helps create space where individuals can encounter God, reflect honestly, and engage the journey without distraction or performance.

We believe every trail is a place of formation. The physical journey becomes a mirror for the internal journey, revealing what is already present in the heart.

We believe the practices used within Eremos: walking, silence, reflection, and conversation, are not ends in themselves. They are simple means through which people may become more aware of God’s presence and work in their lives.

We believe that what is formed in the wilderness is meant to be carried back into everyday life. The goal is not escape, but return. Not withdrawal, but transformation in the midst of ordinary living.

We believe Eremos itself is not the source of change. God is. Eremos is simply a place where attention is reclaimed so that people may see more clearly what God is already doing.
