Every trail has its own character.
Some are gentle and give us room to settle into the rhythm of walking. Others ask more of us. Some follow water, some climb toward a destination, and some seem ordinary until we’ve spent enough time on them to notice what makes them different.
Eremos documents the trails we walk so that others can explore them with a little more understanding before they set out.
These pages are practical resources first. You’ll find information about the route, terrain, distance, difficulty, conditions, and what to expect along the way. We’ve also included observations from our own time on these trails—because a mileage number can tell you how far you have to walk, but it doesn’t always tell you what the walking will be like.
Our trail pages are not a substitute for good preparation or current trail information. Conditions change, and every hiker is responsible for making their own decisions about whether a trail is appropriate for them.

More Trails Coming
These are the trails we’ve begun documenting through Eremos. As we walk more of the Southern Appalachian mountains, we’ll continue adding routes to the collection.
We don’t need to document every trail.
We want to know the trails we walk well enough to speak about them honestly.
Walk With Us
Some of the trails in this collection are also places where Eremos leads guided wilderness experiences.
A guided hike isn’t simply a way to get someone from a trailhead to a destination. We walk together, make room for conversation and silence, pay attention to the trail, and allow the experience to unfold without forcing it into a predetermined shape.
If you’d like to experience one of these trails with Eremos, explore our upcoming experiences.

Experience the Wilderness
Not sure where to start?
You don’t need to decide everything before beginning.
Each experience offers a different rhythm of time, distance, and attention… but all of them begin in the same place: slowing down and becoming present.
If you’re unsure, start with what feels most accessible.
- Half-Day Hikes are the simplest entry point.
- Full-Day Hikes offer more space for reflection.
- Backpacking journeys are for those ready to step into longer simplicity on the trail.
Or begin with the Solitude Guide if you want to start by practicing attention where you are.
Still not sure? Let Eremos help.
